Presiden Joko Widodo saat diwawancara AFP. AFP / ROMEO GACAD, Jakarta: President Joko Widodo griefs on the passing of Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan Burhan Muhammad. Burhan passed away earlier this morning, due to a helicopter accident in Pakistan.

The ambassador had undergone treatments in Singapore, but his life was unable to be saved due to the severe condition of his burn injuries.

"I send my condolences. May the deceased be given a good place beside God, as the departed family be given strength to withstand this ordeal," Jokowi said prior to a cabinet meeting in the President's Office, Medan Merdeka Utara, Jakarta, Tuesday (5/19/2015).

Jokowi stated that the deceased is to arrive in Jakarta this afternoon. Burhan will then be laid in the Pancasila Building of the Foreign Ministry complex before brought to a funeral home in Jogjakarta.

"The body will be laid in the Foreign Ministry's Pancasila Building to be given honorary ceremonial. In the evening, he will be brought to a funeral home in Jogjakarta," said the husband of Iriana.

Burhan passed away due to severe injuries he sustained from a helicopter crash, in which he was a passenger, in Pakistan, on May 8.

Ambassador Burhan suffered from more than 70 percent of burn injuries. The Indonesian Foreign Ministry had transferred his treatment from Pakistan to Singapore.

Meanwhile, his wife, Heri Listyawati, had died during the accident. Other deceased are the Philippines and Norwegian Ambassadors to Pakistan, the wife of Malaysian Ambassador and three crews from Pakistan. (Eps)
