ANTARA FOTO / AKBAR NUGROHO GUMAY, Jakarta: Businessmen in the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (COC) have urged the acceleration of the East Indonesian developments and investments, in order to evenly distribute the economy and increase the investment climate in the region.

The Chairman of COC Suryo Bambang Sulisto (SBS) said the priority of acceleration is divided into physical and human resources developments. The two should be improved in enabling the movement of East Indonesian economic cycle.

"President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) have already directed the Eastern Indonesia development. I hope the regional COC may take over the strategic role. That is what we hope for," Suryo said when asked during the "Trade & Investment Forum: East Indonesian Regions", in Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta, Monday (5/25/2015).

According to Suryo, COC has taken the initiative steps to apply the measures with support from the East Indonesian provincial governments and the central government. The event itself is hoped to be the gateway of business and investment cooperations for East Indonesia.

The development acceleration to be conducted include fishery, farming, plantations, as well as infrastructure developments. Meanwhile, the manufacturing industry will cover processing industry, development of educational sector, health and public developments.

"So there are lots to be improved, which we have to enhance, for the East Indonesian investment to move dynamically," he concluded. (Eps)
