Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: To celebrate the 488th Jakarta Anniversary, Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama hopes that all transaction in Jakarta will be cashless. He determined that by the end of the year, all TransJakarta shelters to use e-Money.

"We have succeeded in incubating in Lenggang Jakarta, where street vendors are trained to do non-cash transactions," Ahok said during the inauguration of Bank Indonesia's branch office, Djuanda Road, Central Jakarta, Monday (6/22/2015).

Ahok had enforced that the Smart Jakarta Card (KJP) cannot be withdrawn in cash. "Elementary school get Rp50,000 per two weeks, Highschool Rp50,000 a week. We would like the school cafeteria to use e-Money. KJP money cannot be cashed even for one Rupiah," he affirmed.

With the e-money system, the database on those who are conducting transactions would be easy to do. He thinks cash money has become a problem in Jakarta.

"I have challenged Bulog to conduct market operation. My question is, who buys the rice? They said there is no data. These are hoarders, speculators who are like that. Whoever buys subsidized rice should use e-money," he said.

Ahok has an ambition that all Jakartans would have and use e-money. Even those with the lowest financial capacities should have bank accounts.

"If you feel poor in Jakarta, you should have a banking account. We will distribute all aids in the bank," he concluded. (Eps)
