Group Taking Hostage Affiliated with a Group Accusing Human Rights Violation in Papua

Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi mentioned that the action of taking two Indonesians hostage in Papua New Guinea (PNG) was a criminal act.

Previously, Minister Retno affirmed that the two have been released. The news was obtained at 19.35 in the evening, Thursday (9/17/2015).

"The hostage situation was a criminal and inhuman acts. Indonesia will investigate who is responsible for the action," said the Minister at the Foreign Ministry Office, Jakarta, Friday (9/18/2015).

"The kidnapping culprits are the armed group affiliated with the group which voiced the accusations of human rights violations in Papua. The event actually showed the world on human rights violations and criminal acts conducted by the group."

"Indonesia hopes that the actors can be found and legally processed according to the law," she affirmed.

The two Indonesians taken hostage by the armed civilian group are Ladiri Sudirman and Badar. Both were kidnapped and taken to the Skouwtiau, Papua New Guinea. The kidnapping started from a shooting against four carpenters in Skofro Village, East Arso District, Keerom Regency, Papua, Wednesday (9/9/2015).
