Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The government  succeeded in rescuing Ladiri Sudirman, 28, and Badar, 29, the two Indonesians held captive in Papua New Guinea, as both were affirmed to be safe.

"Already, already (freed). They are safe," said the Coordinating Minister of Politic, Law and Security, Luhut Pandjaitan, at his office on Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, Friday (9/18/2015).

Sudirman and Badar, both carpenters, were kidnapped and taken to the Skouwtiau region in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The kidnapping started from a shooting incident against four carpenters in Skofro Village, East Arso District, Keerom Regency, Papua, Wednesday, September 9.

Luhut did not want to speak in detail about the hostage situation. Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi, who was at his office, also declined to explain the matter. She rushed to report the rescue of the two Indonesians to President Joko Widodo.

"I want to report this to the president. I don't want to talk in detail, but our focus was clearly on the hostage rescue," said Retno.
