Metrotvnes.com, Jakarta: Chairman of the  Indonesian Hajj Supervisory Committee (KPHI) Slamet Effendy Yusuf urged the Indonesian public to hold on the information from the Hajj Committee (PPIH) and Foreign Ministry in responding to the news about the Indonesian victims on the 2015 Mina tragedy.

"Supervision and direct observation towards the process of hajj pilgrimage in the holy land, especially for the best benefit of Indonesian pilgrims continues to be conducted," said Slamet, in a press release received by Metrotvnews.com, Friday (9/25/2015).

Related to the uncertainty of information on the Mina incident, Slamet Effendy Yusuf urged that Indonesians are not deceived by false information.

On the tragedy itself, there are lots of uncertain information spreading on news websites or social media, as it triggered panic and worries. It also brought panic to the locals whose family members are completing their pilgrimage.

"Only the institution in Mecca has the personnel and access to inquire the accurate condition of Indonesian hajj pilgrims," he stated.

Latest information mentioned that the tragic incident in Mina killed 717 people and injured 863 others. Three among the deceased were Indonesians.

It is the second bloody incidents during the Mecca hajj pilgrimage this year, as previously on September 12, 2015, a crane fell and hit Masjidil Haram, killing 109 pilgrims, including from Iran.

Saudi Arabian King, Salman bin Abdelaziz announced the investigation on the tragedy in Mina. He gave the instruction to review all regulations to improve the process and arranging hajj pilgrims movement conducting their activities. The king, who replaced the late King Abdullah, hopes the investigation may bring swift results.
