In a press conference last Saturday, Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi denied that the visit of President Jokowi to the US uses the assistance of Singaporean consultant. The FM mentioned that her team had set the arrangement.

She was surprised to see the news coverage titled, "Waiting at the White House Lobby". She thinks that the issue being brought up was inaccurate, baseless, as partly nearing fictitious.

"By the news mentioning that President Jokowi departure to the US was set up, arranged by a lobby, I would like to affirm that President Jokowi's preparation to the US was conducted formally, or officially," Retno mentioned in a restaurant in the Mampang area, Jakarta.

She explained that President Jokowi's visit to America this time is purely based on President Obama's invitation conveyed directly at the bilateral meeting in between the 2014 APEC Summit in Beijing, November 10, 2014.

"The invitation was then followed through by a written invitation through the diplomatic channel," Retno mentioned.

The Foreign Ministry team has prepared the visit through several meetings, both with related institutions and directly between both Ministers of Foreign Affairs.

"I personally led the preparation meeting of the visit three times in ministerial level, September 17, 2015, October 7, 2015, as well as October 17, 2015. The foreign Ministry conducted coordination with the related ministries and institutions for at least 10 times, as well as the coordinating meetings related to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the visit as many as 20 times," Retno elaborated.

The article, titled "Waiting in the White House Lobby", was written by Michael Buehler as mentioning the involvement of foreign consultant arranging the visit of President Jokowi to the Uncle Sam's country. The consultant include Pereira International, owned by Derwin Pereira.

Meanwhile the author of the article, Michael Buehler, is a Ph.D holder from The London School of Economics and Political Science. He was known as the lecturer for the Politics and International Relations of the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).
