Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The government is urged to merge two ministries, which are the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Trade, should the government joins the free trade cooperation that was recently took the highlight, the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).

The idea was elaborated to reaffirm the function of Indonesia's negotiation and cooperation when conducting the foreign trade transactions. Therefore, the issue of industry should be transferred fully to the Ministry of Industry.

"I think it is a necessity and a must to create the Ministry of Foreign Trade. The result of the merging of both ministries are necessary in obtaining the latest information from abroad," said economist Faisal Basri, in Gado-Gado Boplo, Menteng, Jakarta, Saturday (11/14/2015).

He admitted that the result of the merging has become the Ministry of Foreign Trade, then Indonesia will be able to increase the declining export recently, especially on the mining sector.

At the same place, former Minister of Trade Rachmat Gobel added that the international trade, ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) are inevitable. 

However, at least the government has to prepare the special measures and anticipation to address the issue. "Foreign trade is inevitable," he concluded.
