The two reasons are story theme and genre, as well as the type of the film.
From the 1,100 respondents, it is revealed that as much as 46 percent of the audience chose the film based on the story plot. Then, as many as 24 percent of them watching Indonesian movies by genre and type of the film.
"The percentage shows that the audience of Indonesian films still consider film as an entertainment form. Indonesian moviegoers still haven't seen them from the cinematic side," mentioned Mohamad Ariansah, Lecturer at FFTV IKJ, in Jakarta, Saturday (11/28/2015).
Film is a form of entertainment to release the audience from their everyday life. It has become the strongest reason for the audience to come to theatres.
"The moviegoers does not want to see the daily issues they see on the news, to appear in the movie they watch. There is a crucial imaginary work there," mentioned Budi Wibawa, a lecturer of FFTV IKJ.
Other reasons are the actors and actresses, as much as 12 percent, interesting trailers at 12 percent, directors at 1 percent and error sampling at 5 percent.
The research of the Indonesian Moviegoers Survey was conducted in September to October 2015 at nine cities in Indonesia, which are Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Malang, Makassar, Medan, Banjarmasin and Ambon
