Resignation Does Not Affect Legal Process of Setya Novanto: AGO
Setya Novanto (Photo: Antara Foto/Sigid Kurniawan), Jakarta: Setya Novanto officially resigned from his position as the Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR). Attorney General HM Prasetyo ensured that Novanto's case is still continued.
"Don't bother with that. We do not see who he is," said Prasetyo when contacted on Wednesday evening (12/16/2015).
Prasetyo also conveyed that Novanto is indicated for corruption crime. His institution now is focusing on the law enforcement process.
"We will see, there is most likely corruption indication, which now we continue to probe and reveal. The most important thing is to continue the progress," added the former Junior Attorney General on Public Crime. 
Previously, according to Prasetyo, with the resignation of Novanto, it will be easier to probe on Novanto, as he no longer bear the capacity of being the Speaker of the House. Therefore, his case may be lifted onto investigation phase and determining the suspects.
"With him stepping down, he no longer has the capacity he possessed earlier," he mentioned.
As informed, the investigation on Setya Novanto's case was initiated when the 90-minute recording emerged to public. The content of recording was conversation between Novanto, fuel importer Riza Chalid and President Director of PT FI, Maroef Sjamsoeddin where Novanto allegedly asking for shares to Maroef by falsely bringing president and vice president's name.
Until presently, the Attorney General's Office (AGO) had summoned 11 witnesses, including Maroef, Minister of Energy Sudirman Said, Novanto's private secretary Dina, the Secretary General of the House, as well as four employees of Ritz Carlton Hotel.
