Metrotvnews.com, Jakarta: The Ministry of Trade assessed that Indonesia is ready to face the era of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) in 2016.

Minister of Trade Thomas Trikasih Lembong mentioned that some aspects of the AEC actually has been started since two years ago. For example, 85 percent of goods has been exempted from tariffs.

"Within the past two years, our businessmen have competed, many of them target export market," mentioned Thomas at the Ministry's Head Office, Jakarta, Tuesday (12/22/2015).

He assessed currently global economy is very competitive, like mentioned by President Joko Widodo. Therefore, he urged public to shift their paradigm to be more aggressive.

However, he is assured that in the future, Indonesian businessmen will gain success.

"We, the government, believe that Indonesian economy has a lot of strong players and the future years will be filled with success stories. The economic scale will be greater," he elaborated.

On the other hand, he admitted that the government still focuses on infrastructure developments. Until recently, infrastructure is still unimproved which gives burden to logistic cost.

"Then, it is clear that from the regulation side we are relatively behind. We should simplify the regulation and services," he elaborated.
